109-year-old Jessie Gallan from Scotland said that the secret to her longevity is this: Eat your porridge and avoid men. Jessie Gallan, who never married, said that her “secret to a long life has been staying away from men. They’re just more trouble than they’re worth.”
She noted that she also “made sure that I got plenty of exercise, eat a nice warm bowl of porridge every morning and have never gotten married.”
The oldest person in the world is currently Susannah Mushatt Jones, who turned 116 over the summer. She claims that eating bacon is the secret to long life.
Last year, a national survey in the United States found that the secrets to long life include plenty of time with friends and family and a commitment to fitness.
Gallan has lived her whole life independently, working hard and providing for herself after leaving home when she was 13.
Gallan passed away at her Nursing home at the age of 109 and the caregivers at her nursing home described her as “absolutely amazing”.
It turns out that Gallan was not alone in thinking that focusing on improving one’s self and becoming the best versions of oneself is the secret to success and life.
Many people are adopting independent lifestyles and focusing on getting what they want from their lives before they ever consider adding a partner to the mix.
For some women, and men too, they reach a certain age and realize that they have given their best years to their partner and find themselves scrambling to make up for lost time.
