Kevin Gatlin has always been bored by the monotonous environments of hospital rooms since he was a kid. This feeling was further cemented when went to visit his friend’s hospitalized child several years ago and was heartbroken by the idea of a child spending hours upon hours in a plain white room.
So as a means of making sure that his children were never forced to endure the same boredom, he came up with a simple solution to help with the hospital doldrums.
He was then inspired by the thought about how his wife played games on his son’s bed in order to help him fall asleep. This fueled the idea for Playtime Edventures, an interactive set of bed sheets that feature dozens of games and lessons for children confined to their hospital beds.
Kevin spent the next two years meeting with school teachers and designing sheets that would keep the kids entertained and stimulated when sick. Kevin said, “We put together bedsheets and slumber bags that cover everything from geography, math, science, grammar, word find games… all on a three-piece set.”
Today each set of sheets consists of sheets in bright colours with more than 50 fun interactive games such as Checkers, Wordfind, Chess and Tic-Tac-Toe, to original custom games and activities. Suited best for kids 3 years and older, these sheets also come with imaginative pillowcases that encourage kids to create their own stories!
