MBBS student Priyank Gupta acted as the saviour of a PhD scholar who needed a cardiac transplant. The 20-year-old who died in a road accident also donated his kidneys, liver, corneas and skin so more lives can live a better life.
Priyank was a resident of Indore city and a first-year student at Index Medical College. On June 21, he was travelling with his friend on a motorcycle when they collided with a truck.
Priyank died in the mishap while his friend fractured his left arm and is receiving treatment.
"A brilliant guy as he was, Priyank always wished to help the needy and he did so even in his demise. “
He and his friend suffered the accident with a truck. His family decided for organ donation and a call was made to Max Hospital in Saket about the availability of a heart.
Without wasting a moment, doctors flew down to Indore, got the beating heart in just 2 hours 55 minutes and gave a fresh lease of life to Pradeep, 36, who was searching for a donor for nearly two years.
While one of Priyank's kidneys was transplanted to a patient at Choithram Hospital in Indore, the other was sent to Bombay Hospital in the city.
A patient at CHL Hospital got the liver. The skin was sent to skin bank and corneas to the MK International Eye Bank, also in Indore.
Even when he is gone, his heart is still beating in someone, his eyes will still be seeing the world. A true life saver he was. May god bless his soul, who has blessed so many.
