In an incident one of it’s kind, a Doctor took a tough stand and refused to provide his services to a patient who has defamed him on Social Media.
The concerned doctor is a Nephrologist currently working in the Max Hospital, New Delhi, India. Expressing his inability to provide his services to the person, he wrote boldly in the prescription paper his reasons of doing so.
He wrote : “ On mere assumption, the false allegations made by the Patient family against me on social media without cross checking the facts with me or the hospital authorities has completely ruined the relationship of mutual trust between patient and doctor. Since the patient has come back to me again in stable clinical condition for medical consultation, I refuse to give any opinion and advice him to consult other Nephrologist. If the patient has a right to choose a doctor, doctors too have all the rights to refuse seeing misbehaving patients and their attendants. Please stop taking Doctors and their services as granted and malign the Noble profession (Yes still Noble in more than 90% cases) to satisfy your personal egos…. Please feel free to share this too on your social media account.”
