Recently a senior doctor passed away due to the lung infection, on which no antibiotic worked.
He must have treated thousands or may be lakhs of patients by these antibiotics but finally the very same didn’t work on him.
We read about the resistance, we see such cases where many antibiotics simply donot work. The only option left is to shift to the next higher antibiotic and so on. In people who have a good immunity, shifting to higher antibiotic usually works but in patients whose immunity has goes down, nothing works, no antibiotic no matter how higher in the spectrum.
This is worst than any infection, any disease we usually fear, even worse than the Zika virus, Swine flu, a nuclear bomb explosion in the waiting. But how come such potent antibiotics are losing their effect that too with such a rapid rate?
Here is the reason:
We have a parallel healthcare system in form of unqualified, non-medicos so called the quacks system in the country, who have no knowledge behind how a medicine works, about the complications, about the issues. They have just worked in some clinic or hospital or in a pharmacy and learned that give antibiotic to treat any disease or infection. Open their clinic and start doing the same without any rationality. With very limited knowledge and a compulsion to treat the patients lead them to use the last resort in the first instance itself.
We talked to a few representatives of pharma companies and you will be surprised by their sales figures. The maximum sale of the most higher antibiotics is in villages. Where you hardly find a specialist, the higher medicines are used the most.
What will happen if you give Linezolid (last resort antibiotic) even for a small cut infection?
Resistance! The bacteria will stop responding to it with time. But they are not concerned about the mega explosion they are creating, they are just concerned about the immediate treatment, so do the patient. Even in proper hospitals, it is becoming a pressure to use higher antibiotics in the first instance itself because no patient wants to wait and experiment from the basic medicine. Everyone wants immediate cure.
These higher medicines are pretty costly, so here is the way they use to reduce the costs - many of them give just two tablets or injection of the top antibiotic and then shift to the lower ones, furthering the creation of totally resistant bacteria, such a big crime it is.
You know what it means in simple terms – you will have some infection, just a normal infection that most of us have time to time but no antibiotic will work on it and it will keep on progressing. Anyone of you who ever had a patient in ICU or on Ventilator can easily understand what we are saying, because many of them must have lost their loved ones to this very resistant infection.
Not just this, it harms even the person who is taking them because most of them have more serious side effects.
The healthcare community is further at risk because they work in the hospitals where all kinds of resistant pathogens are found, making their infection more difficult to handle.
Solution is only in the hands of government, which only can regulate this illogical availability and unauthorized use of these life saving drugs.
Else welcome to the new primary killer #resistantinfection.

Themes of publishing or asking – You can publish from various themes that we mentioned and if any topic is missing among them, you can still post anything related to the Health. Healthcare is the only broad theme.
This data changes rapidly, so what’s shown may be out of date. Table totals may not always represent an accurate sum. Information about reported cases is also available on the World Health Organisation site.
It doesn’t include all cases
Confirmed cases aren’t all cases. They only include people who tested positive. Testing rules and availability vary by country.
