By donating Eyes, liver, heart, kidneys and skin, 20-yr old gave Life to five

Sajal Kar, a 20-year old boy met with an accident on 18Dec and was rushed to the CMRI hospital in Kolkata. He was declared brain dead on Wednesday. Kar's family agreed to donate the second year BCom student's organs prompting the city's traffic police department to create a green corridor ensuring the successful harvest of his vital organs including both his kidneys, liver, heart, skin, and eyes.

Three green corridors were created in the state capital of West Bengal by traffic police to facilitate the timely harvest of the deceased's organs.

While one of Kar's kidneys was received by a patient at CMRI hospital, the other one was donated to a patient admitted to the Apollo Hospital.

Meanwhile, the deceased's heart was received by a 40-year-old man, who underwent the transplant surgery at the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital.

Sajal's liver was received by a 38-year-old Toto driver, who had been suffering from liver cirrhosis. The procedure to replace Ghosh's liver with that of Kar's was carried out at SSKM.

Kar's eyes were preserved at the Shankar Netralaya.

Huge respect for him and his family, the doctors involved and the police who effectively created the green corridors.
